STERLING - Timmy Lee Snowden, Jr., 28, died March 28, 2006, at El Paso, Texas, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
He was born Feb. 17, 1978, in Pamona, Calif., the son of Timmy Lee and Donna Louise Persson Snowden, Sr. He graduated in 1996, from Nickerson High School. He was a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, being honorably discharged in September 2005, after nine years of service.
He belonged to the Lutheran faith, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, both at Fort Hood, Kileen, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army at Korea and Iraq. While in Iraq he was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor.
Survivors include: a son, Taylor James Snowden; two daughters, Amber Marie Snowden, and Courtney Lavada Snowden, all of Hutchinson living with their mother, Karen D. Snowden; his father and stepmother, Timmy Lee and Bonnie Snowden Sr., McFarland; his mother and stepfather, Donna and Bill Geist, Sterling; a brother, Jeremy, Gulf Port, Miss.; two sisters, Chandra Lambert and husband Ben, Hutchinson, and Janil Snowden, Sterling; a stepsister, Rebecca Linton, Anchorage, Alaska; and grandparents, Harry and Lavada Persson, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Robert and Velma Geist, Hutchinson, and Helen and Roland Cobb, Sterling.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Loren Mai presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
