Tony L. Marquez, 82, died Aug. 4, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Burrton, to Juan L. and Louisa (Gomez) Marquez.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War, and 50 years later he was awarded four combat medals on May 29, 2000, from Jerry Moran. Tony later went to work for Cessna and retired in 1994, after 30 years as a machinist. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361.
On June 29, 1957, Tony married Cruz A. Flores in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Susan Cintron and husband Miguel of Omaha, Neb., Tony Marquez Jr. and wife Deb of Wichita, John Marquez and wife Mae of Hutchinson, Gary Marquez and wife Kathy of Hutchinson, Elaine Marquez of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Pete Marquez and wife Mona of Hutchinson; sister, Stella Marquez of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Miguel H. Cintron Jr.; brothers, Adolph Chavez, Bobby R. Marquez; and sister, Kathryn Garcia.
A parish rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, all at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
