Trinidad R. Ruelas, 97, died March 9, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1909, in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Margarito and Placida Ramirez Ruelas. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he served for more than 30 years for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1975, and also was a lawn care provider for many prominent businessmen.
He belonged to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Railroad Union.
On Feb. 5, 1940, he married Frances Hernandez in Hutchinson. She died April 7, 1996.
Survivors include their children: Alice C. Saiz, Salina, Efrain M. Ruelas, Odessa, Texas, Vangie P. Saiz, Brea, Calif., Ernie T. Ruelas, Wichita, Vicky Johnson, Victor T. Ruelas and Lydia M. Martinez, all of Hutchinson; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson, with Fathers Ned Blick and Colin Boor presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
