Obituary

Ula A. Bowman, 88, died Oct. 28, 2008, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

She was born April 24, 1920, in Sylvia, the daughter of Roy and Cora Hobbs Linder.

She had been a Hutchinson resident since 1942. She attended Elkhart and Tribune schools. She graduated from Sylvia High School in 1937. She was a cook for Lincoln Elementary School for over 23 years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was president of the PTA at various times during her boys' school years.

On Aug. 31, 1938, she married John F. Bowman in Wichita. He died April 24, 1997. Survivors include: five sons, Larry and wife Bobbie, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Leroy and wife Marianne, Fordland, Texas, Duane and wife Janice, Dennis and wife Terri, both of Hutchinson, and Max and wife Vangie, Langdon; brothers, Lee Linder, Turon, Orival Linder, Clay Center, and Rex Linder, Sterling; sisters, Lucille Vernon, Grove, Okla., Patsy Stout, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Gladys Smith, Tyler, Texas; ten grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Jim, and L.B. Linder, and sister Irene Baker.

Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Nancy Proffitt presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8.

Memorials may be sent to Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church or Hospice of Reno County in care of the mortuary.
