V. Loraine Ahrens, 94, died June 28, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Coldwater, to Albert W. and Hazel (Merle) Seaman.
She married Delmer M. Ahrens on Feb. 22, 1943, in St. John. He died Feb. 9, 1987.
Loraine had many interests and hobbies during her life. After their retirement, she and her spouse enjoyed traveling in their RV. Always trying something new, she began trout fishing then eagerly shared her fishing techniques with her family. Doing more with less, she used her creativity to make her world a more beautiful place. Often her crafty creations were shared with family and friends. Loraine was an avid reader who also enjoyed her daily crossword puzzle. She shared her talents spending countless hours volunteering in the classrooms at Hutchinson and Buhler schools to help her daughter, who was a teacher. Loraine was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family and left them with many wonderful memories.
Survivors include: two sons, Gerald Ahrens, and Bill Quillen (Rita); daughter, Judi McFall, all of Hutchinson; sister, Doris Elliott, Conaga Park, Calif.; son-in-law, Sal Badagliacco of Okla.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Ahrens of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Donnie Ahrens; daughter, Patty Badagliacco; and son-in-law, Johnnie McFall.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Fairlawn Burial Park, with Pastor Matt Stafford officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
