V. Ruth Petering, 94, died November 7, 2021, at Haven House. She was born November 10, 1926, in Hutchinson, to Arthur Harvey and Ruth Alice (Getz) Chambers.

Ruth enjoyed being a homemaker.  She was also an accomplished seamstress, making many of her children and grandchildren's clothes, including wedding and bridesmaid dresses.  Ruth was a member of TOPS and KOPS, Hutchinson Women's Bowling Association, and New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson.

On January 30, 1943, she married James Lloyd Petering, in Stafford.  He died May 1, 1996, after they shared 53 years of marriage.

Ruth is survived by:  sons, Jim Petering (Janelle), and Mike Petering; daughter, Donelle Conner (Chuck); grandchildren, Brian Petering (Emily), Bernadette Hiebert (Chris), James Decker, Kristy Welchons (Scott), Renee Robinson (Kerry), Miranda Ackley (Bryan), Meagan Neufeld, Robb Conner (Bobbie), and Shawn Conner (Janie); 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:  her parents; four brothers; four sisters; daughter and son-in-law, Geri and Joe Decker; and two grandsons, Michael Decker and Patrick Neufeld.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2021, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 25th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Waetke officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
