Vaden Lynn Daugherty, 68, died Friday, May 23, 2014. He was born December 12, 1945, in Hutchinson, the son of C. Francis "Frank" and Rettie Martin "Retta" Daugherty.
He was a 1963, graduate of Hutchinson High School, a 1965, graduate of Hutchinson Community College, served in the U.S. Army Reserve was a member of Crosspoint Church and a member of the Mid State Street Rods. Vaden had been in retail sales and management and was a business proprietor. He had worked for TG&Y, Duckwalls and Long's, retiring from Long's in 2012, with 35 years of service. He had owned The Pizza Factory in Wray, Colorado.
On March 1, 2009, he married Colleen Magnuson Hartman in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: two daughters and their spouses, Lahna and Brad Elliott, and Kelsey and Joel Norman, all of Andover; three stepchildren, Eric and Jeniffer Hartman of Basehor, Casey Hartman, and Amy Hartman both of Hutchinson; an adopted daughter, Tara LaForce of Wichita; two sisters, Bonnie Lindstrom of Anaheim, Calif., and June Scott; three granddaughters, Andria, Natalie, and Jillian Hartman, and two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at CrossPoint Church, Westbrook Campus, Hutchinson, with Pastor Andy Addis presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial with military honors will be conducted by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard will be in Partridge Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center, or to the church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
