Velda Mae Souter, 90, of Hutchinson, passed away June 19, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born Marh 5, 1934, in Stafford County, the daughter of John Henry and Carrie (Weve) Cassady.

A long-time resident of the Hutchinson area, Velda retired from Eaton. She enjoyed being a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, IAMAW Union, and helping the community.

Velda is survived by: her daughters, Philta, Ilander, Della; sons, Jonas, Quentin; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-children; 2 ½ great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Velma, Norma, Laura; brothers, James, Dale Edwin, and John Henry.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cheney Reservoir.

The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it will be active beginning at 10:15 a.m. the day of the service.
