Veldon Hefling, 76, died June 10, 2008, at the Hutchinson Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Hoisington, son of Floyd V. and Hazel Griffen Hefling.
A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a 1950 graduate of Hutchinson High School and graduated from Kansas State University in 1958 with an engineering degree. He was an engineer with Farmland Industries in Hutchinson. He was previously an engineer with Hefling Engineering in South Hutchinson. When he retired, he was an engineer with Eaton Corporation.
He attended Mount Olivet Worship Center, Hutchinson. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Hutchinson, and a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose #982, Hutchinson. He served in the U.S. Army.
On Oct. 26, 1974, he married Goldie May Lawson in Maize. She died Jan. 5, 2008.
Survivors include: brothers, Von and wife Susan, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Dennis and wife Cindy, St. Peters, Mo.; sister, Juleta Siemens, Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Luanne Haddaway officiating. Cremation has taken place.
