Velma M. Schank's Obituary
Velma M. Schank, 86, died Nov. 30, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Abbyville, the daughter of Earl and Florence Julia Waddle Lehman. She graduated in 1939 from Nickerson High School. A lifetime resident of the Hutchinson area, she had worked at Pegues and the Kwik Shop on West 17th.
She belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Hutchinson Travel Club, WELCA and various fellowship groups at the church.
On Nov. 27, 1941, she married Robert J. "Bob" Schank. He died Aug. 25, 2007.
Survivors include: a daughter, Debi Ellis and husband, Dennis, Hutchinson; two granddaughters, Suzette Ellis and Alisha Ellis, both of Hutchinson; and a great-granddaughter, Julia Ellis, Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Merkle, Helen Cox and Ellen Dunn.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 10, 2007, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastors Tim Carey and Chris Deines presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
