Obituary

Vera Schipper, 95, passed away December 9, 2012. She was born at the family farm near Deepwater, Missouri, January 11, 1917, the daughter of William and Nellie Chiles Wulfemeyer.

She was a 1935 graduate of Abbyville High School and had worked as a "Rosie the Rivetor" wiring and plumbing the tail sections of bombers during World War II near Tucson, Arizona. In the '50s and '60s she had worked in the office and along with her husband, Jacob, for Fat Jones Stables in Los Angeles providing livestock, wagons, chariots and etc. for western television shows and movies. Vera had ridden little Joe's (Michael Landon's) horse on Bonanza twice a week to make him easier to handle on location. Her meticulous seamstress abilities were a real treat for her nephews with custom made shirts that fit so perfectly. After her husbands death in 1979, she returned to Tucson and then back to Hutchinson in 1997.

She is survived by: three nephews, and one niece, Lee (Jan) Wulfemeyer, and Vic (Cheri) Moser, both of Abbyville, Mark (Amy) Wulfemeyer, Leawood, and Teresa Reimer, South Hutchinson; and great-nieces and nephews, Troy Millsap, Andy (Jenn) Moser, Shaun Reimer, Rachel (Chris) Launius, Julie Wulfemeyer and Lily Wulfemeyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ray and Billy Wulfemeyer and sister, Jewel Moser.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Keith Dellenbach officiating. Interment will be in Abbyville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson.
