Obituary

Verle D. Rutledge, 77, died Jan. 30, 2008, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1931, in Arlington, the son of Paul and Anna Albright Rutledge. A lifetime Arlington resident, he attended Arlington High School. He was a farmer and worked for Cessna and Eaton Corp., retiring from Eaton in 1991 after 38 years. He then worked as a farmhand for many of his neighbors.

He belonged to the New Life Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal.

On Feb 14, 1994, he married DeAnna Kay Vincent. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Michael John Rutledge, San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Melany Jo Ketchum, Hutchinson; four stepdaughters, Leslie Leonard, Arlington, Jackie Rogalla, Sidney, Mont., Rhonda Denison, Arlington, and Bobbie Jo Milligan, Hutchinson; two grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Clara Ketchum and sister-in-law, Phyllis Hageman, both of Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Rutledge.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Curtis Coombs presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
