Verna Arliene Rickett, 76, of Hutchinson, died August 25, 2012, at Hospice House. Verna was born May 30, 1936, at Arlington, the daughter of James Vern and Geneva R. Feese Sitton. She was a 1954 graduate of Arlington High School and later graduated from the Kansas City Business School of Commerce in 1956.

She worked for a short time as an accountant for Roberts Printing, but retired after 30 years as a secretary for USD 308. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Verna married Clifford E. "Gene" Rickett on Dec. 13, 1957, at Arlington. He survives. Other survivors include: a son, Greg Rickett (Susan), South Hutchinson; two daughters, Carolyn Kidd (Mario), and Sharon Wooten, all of Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Mark Gregg (Jessica), Keith Gregg, all of Hutchinson, Zach Rickett, Wichita, and Megan Delzer (Dan), Bel Aire, Ks.; and four great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Emily, Brittany, and Zoey Gregg, all of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, and the casket will remain closed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Council of Reno County, or Hospice House, or First United Methodist Church, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, Ks. 67501.
