Verna L. Schroder (Siegrist), 90, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Dec. 1, 2010.
Verna was born Jan. 10, 1920, to Alpha and Hazel Siegrist.
She grew up in Hutchinson, Kan., graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1936.
On Nov. 5, 1939, she married R. Eugene "Gene" Schroder. Following a union of 69 years, he preceeded her in death on Aug. 12, 2009.
She was also preceeded in death by her parents, brothers, Alvin, Lamoine, Floyd, Harlan and Billy Siegrist, and sisters, Emma Siegrist and Bette Brown.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Nancy (Don) Korber of Valley Center and Connie Schroder of Wichita; grandchildren, Angi (Jeff) Gragg of Colwich, Amy (Wes) Ellington of Rosehill, and Dr. David (Lisa) Korber of Oklahoma City. Verna also leaves a legacy of 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Velma Zimmerman and Patty Robertson.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell presiding.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family requests that those wishing to honor her memory with a memorial gift donate to the charity of their choosing.
