Obituary

Vernon Lee Paul Carder Sr., 77, died March 25, 2007, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Ness City, the son of Theodore Roosevelt and Dortha Niamah Hertel Carder. A resident of Hutchinson since 1951, he worked for Cargill Salt for 44 years retiring in 1995.

He was a former member of Assembly of God and present member of Hutchinson Wesleyan Church. He was a financial secretary for Chemical Workers Union and received an award for 1000 consecutive Sundays at Hutchinson Wesleyan Church.

In 1973, he married Emily Scantlin in Hutchinson.

Survivors include: four sons, Vernon L. P. Carder Jr., Pretty Prairie, John David Kuntz, Nickerson, Anthony Carder Sr., Nickerson, and Michael S. Carder, Hutchinson; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hutchinson Wesleyan Church with Pastor David Rutler presiding. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.

Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, Hutchinson Wesleyan Church or Dillon Living Center, in care of the mortuary.
