Vernon Wier Norton, 77, passed away May 9, 2023, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born December 6, 1945, in Eye, England, to Kenneth W. Norton and Netta (Jolly) Norton.

Vernon was a graduate of Kermit High School, Kermit, TX, and earned an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Seward County Community College, Liberal, KS. He served in the United States Navy from April 1965 to November 1968.

On July 4, 1970, Vernon married Rosemary E. Lucas, in Denver, CO. They shared over 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by: his wife, Rosemary Norton of Hutchinson, KS; children, Vikki (Christopher) Mader of Nickerson, KS, and Brenton (Lindsay) Norton of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Kalie Mader, Brandy (Rex) Farmer, Jacob (fiancée Kadie Smith) Mader, Sophie Mader, Luke Norton, and Blake Norton; and brother, John Norton of Kermit, TX.

Vernon was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Wendy Jones and Mary Walker; and brother, Michael Norton.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Calvary Chapel Church, 1400 N. Adams, Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Luke Helmuth officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, through Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2023, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Council of Reno County or Calvary Chapel Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
