Vernon M. Reinke, 88, died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011. He was born in Nickerson on Sept. 22, 1923, the son of Rudolph E. and Amy Lewis Reinke. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by: four sisters, Lucille Woods of Lawrence, Violet Wilson of Wichita, Florence Poncin of Lyons, and Irene Dick of Vancouver, Wash. He was preceded in death by: five sisters, Elsie Charbonnea, Leona Gardner, Velma Barclay, Venitta Christensen and Delores Smith.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at Wildmead Cemetery, with Jimie Wray-Mead officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Navy Funeral Honor team. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or Fresenius Medical Care of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
