Verona A. "Val" Aleman, 77, died Dec. 2, 2013, at Hospice House. She was born April 9, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Eston and Linda (Pankratz) Leslie.
She graduated from Buhler High School in 1954. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Val worked as a paralegal for 50 years at Weinlood, Cole, and Shaffer Law Firm.
On Oct. 21, 1955, she married Luis Rey Aleman in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: children, Becky Huckabey and husband David of South Hutchinson, Nick Aleman and wife Tona of Titusville, Fla., Tom Aleman and wife Tami of Gardner, Teresa Hays and husband Mark of St. John, Cori Johanning and husband Chad of Kinsley; aunt, Evelyn Pankratz of Buhler; seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Val was preceded in death by her parents; and uncles, Richard Pankratz, Olin Pankratz, Alan Pankratz and John Pankratz.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Phil Vickers officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family to receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
