Obituary

Victor Wilburn Kellogg, 92, passed away on Aug. 14, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born on Aug. 22, 1918, in Lakin, Kan., to Milton Wilburn Kellogg and Bertha Kellogg. The family moved to Pretty Prairie shortly after his birth.
He married Jean Lenore Todd on Jan. 29, 1939. She survives. Other survivors include: his son, Richard Morrison Kellogg; two grandchildren, Michael and Pamela Kellogg; and four great-grandchildren. After graduation from Pretty Prairie High School he briefly attended Kansas State University. He and his wife moved to Pasadena, Calif. in 1939, where they were responsible for the weather bureau station located at Mt. Wilson, where the largest telescope at the time was located. He served in the US Navy from 1944 through 1946, and rejoined the weather bureau, where he worked at various locations until 1952. At this time he and his wife returned to Kansas to take over the family dairy and wheat farm. In 1967, they moved to Hutchinson, where he was Reno County tax assessor until his retirement.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
