Victor Anthony "Ted" Mendoza Jr., 51, died Jan. 20, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1963, in Hutchinson, to Victor Mendoza Sr. and Dolores "Lola" Flores.
Victor was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, South Hutchinson. Victor "Ted" Mendoza's greatest joy was family. He had a quiet demeanor, quick humor, a big heart and put others ahead of himself. If he was shoveling snow for his neighbors, mowing the grass at his church, or doing any number of other jobs around the community, his help was always quiet and unassuming. The emptiness felt by his loss will be filled with the memories of family gatherings, Fourth of July celebrations and the silver and black of the Oakland Raiders. But the most cherished memories will be of a son, brother, uncle, and friend whose love and protection was always unconditional. Rest in peace. He is survived by: father, Victor Mendoza Sr. and wife Fran of Sterling; mother, Dolores "Lola" Flores of Hutchinson; sisters, Marla Gonzales and husband James Sr. of Chesapeake, Va., Letisha Mendoza-Galindo and husband Jose of Hutchinson; companion, Carol Kiker of Hutchinson; eight nephews and four nieces. Victor was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred Mendoza Sr. and wife Rafaila; and maternal grandparents, Antonio Flores Sr. and wife Lus.
