Obituary

Vinnita Mae Gilliland, 97, died June 5, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Fellsburg, Kan., to Andrew J. and Daisy Pearl Montandon Keener.

Vinnita retired from Spangler Photo in 1980. In her later life, she could be found caring for and helping others, and volunteered for 20 years at the Hutchinson Hospital.

On Jan. 16, 1937, she married John A. Gilliland. He died May 4, 1991. Survivors include: brother, Kenneth Keener and wife Frances of Edmond, Okla.; nieces and nephews, Douglas Keener and wife Carolyn of Wichita, Debbie Keener Bryant and husband Charles of Oklahoma City, Kenny Keener Jr. and wife Ana of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; great-nephew, Zachary Keener of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; first cousins, Cheryl Owen of Lubbock, Texas, Gwen Robinson of Middlebury, Conn., Billie Marie Warden and husband Dale of Lenexa; many other family members; caregivers and special friends, Virginia Perry and Julia McLaughlin, both of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sonna Lou King; and two brothers.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Union Valley Bible Church, 1916 E. 30th, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
