Viola Pauline (Day) Smith Blank, 94, died Oct. 14, 2015, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born Jan. 7, 1921, to Roscoe and Lydia (Zeitz) Day, in Kingman County.
On March 25, 1940, she married Rev. Lonnie Smith in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 20, 1969. On April 24, 1975, she married Lee R. Blank in Kansas City. He died June 1, 2000. She graduated from Belmont High School in 1939, and attended Salt City Business College. Viola was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a homemaker. Survivors include: daughters, Darla Bigger (Gary) of Hutchinson and Lonnita Henson (Gary) of Overland Park; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Pearl Dougherty and Helen Ewy; and brothers, Earl, Roy and Dallas Day.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Reverend Ralph Nevius and Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
