Viola Elizabeth Hamby, 73, died Nov. 7, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Harperscorner, Ill., the daughter of Walter William and Gertrude Rice Doubet. She graduated from Farmington High School, Farmington, Ill. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she was a certified nurse's aide with Golden Plain.
She belonged to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Glassford, Ill.
On July 2, 1951, she married Darriel J. Hamby in Hutchinson. He died March 23, 1994.
Survivors include: three sons, Rick D. Hamby, Minneapolis, Minn., Danny R. Hamby, Victoria, Texas, and Dana L. Hamby, Hutchinson; two brothers, Lynn Doubet, Hannibal, N.Y., and Lyle Doubet, Trivoli, Ill.; two sisters, Laura Belle Cruise, Hannah City, Ill., and Evelyn Mowers, Chillicothe, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a son, Randy Hamby; a daughter, Donna Sifuentes; two brothers, Paul and Rolland Doubet; a grandson, Matthew Hamby; and a granddaughter, Monica Sifuentes.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastors Wayne Johnson and J.W. Robinson presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
