Viola Mae Kleck Farney, 101 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson, KS.
Viola, born December 24, 1911, on the farm southwest of Sterling, KS, the daughter of George M. Kleck and Emma Merkel Kleck. She married Harvey Farney on May 19, 1931. They celebrated 73 years together before he died August 4, 2004.
She was a member of Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, and lifetime Reno County resident. Viola was a cherished mother and grandmother, a homemaker, and an avid quilter.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Harvey, son-in-law, Bob Marlow, grandson, Tyler Farney, and infant great-granddaughter, Marshay Marie Farney.
Survivors are: her children, Bob (Lavonne) Farney, Sterling, Donna (Jerry) Broadus, Hutchinson, Shirley Marlow, Aurora, Colo., and Jim (LaVonne) Farney, Salina; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Sterling Evangelical Bible Church, 3017 North Sterling Road, Sterling, KS, with the Rev. Dr. Darrell Farney, and Pastor David Norris officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with family to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
