Obituary

Viola A. 'Vi' Hoffman, 97, of Hutchinson, died Feb. 17, 2019, at Hospice House. She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Lindsborg, the daughter of John & Johanna (Lorenzen) Johnson.

Vi was a 1939 graduate of Lindsborg High School and attended business college in Salina. She married Ed Hoffman Feb. 14, 1944, in Oakland, CA. Ed's death occurred on Sept. 30, 2012. A long-time Hutchinson resident, she and Ed lived in Overland Park, Denver, CO, St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN, and Dallas, TX. Vi volunteered as a church secretary and for the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Phi Beta Psi Sorority.

She is survived by: sons, Jim and wife Kay of Wichita, Ron and wife Joy of Pittsburg, MO; daughter, Connie Christensen of Seaside, OR; grandchildren, Teresa LaRose and husband Larry, Stephen Hoffman and wife Gloria, Shannon Rodriquez; grandson-in-law, Bill Garrison; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Ed; her parents; brothers, Liebert and Raynard Johnson; sister, Florence Toler; son-in-law, David Christensen; and a granddaughter, Debbie Garrison.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with the Reverend Mark H. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County or the American Cancer Society, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
