Violet V. Ness, 97, died July 23, 2012, at Mennonite Friendship Communities.
She was born July 13, 1915, in Kalfield, Saskatchewan, Canada to William Chancy and Inga Graves.
She owned Ness Retail Liquor and the Dutch Mill Bar. Violet was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1361 Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose Hutchinson Chapter #1371.
On Sept. 1, 1942, she married I.R. "Jim" Ness in St. Paul, Minn. He died April 27, 1978.
Survivors include: grandson, Jeff Graves and wife Julie of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Pam Elam and husband Dan of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan Graves, Barbie Smith, Danny Elam, Austin and Cassidy Graves; great great-granddaughter, Breckyn; sister, Daisy Miller of Forrest Lake, Minn. Violet was preceded in death by son, Raymond M. Graves; grandson, Todd Graves; eight brothers; and a sister.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Willard D. Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
