Virginia S. Davis, 86, died July 17, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Vandalia, Mo., the daughter of Alfred L. and Elizabeth A. Williams Darnell. She graduated from Little River High School, Little River. She was a longtime Hutchinson resident, moving to Russell in 1986, and returned to Hutchinson in October 2008.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell, the Russell Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Hope Circle, at the church, and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Russell.
On Aug. 22, 1986, she married Easter M. Davis in Hutchinson. He survives. Other survivors include: three stepchildren, Cecil Davis, Clarence, N.Y., Marilyn Lisenbee, Maywood, Mo., and Sharolyn Davis, Hannibal, Mo.; a sister, Fern Wingert, Hutchinson; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Terrill, J.W. and Alfred Darnell, and five sisters, Verda Marie Darnell, Verneta Stallings, Martha Ball, Merle Thode and Maxine Darnell.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday July 20, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Henry Hartman and the Rev. Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
