Virginia M. Denner, 87, died Dec. 12, 2009, at her home, Aurora, Colo. She was born July 7, 1922, in Florence, the daughter of Harlie and Jennie McClellan Bolton. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Katherine Bolton. She graduated in 1940 from Reece High School, Reece, KS. She retired in 1987, with 33 years of service with USD No. 308. She was a school secretary at Lakeview and Graber Elementary Schools and worked in the business office at the Administration Center.

She was a volunteer at the Hutchinson Hospital Gift Shop and was also an active community volunteer.

On Jan. 23, 1945, she married John "Phil" Denner in Florence, Ks. He died Nov. 9, 2000. Survivors include: a son, Harold and wife Gael, Houston; a daughter, Jeri Doremus and husband Randy, Aurora, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Denner, and her parents.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday Dec. 19, 2009, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Joe Withrow presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
