Virginia Lee Kern, 83, died Dec. 12, 2015, at Brookdale of Hutchinson. She was born March 25, 1932, to Seth Corbett and Fern Anolee (Roush) Jones in Hutchinson.
She graduated from Buhler High School in 1950 and Adela Hale Business College in 1951. Virginia worked for KP&L and Davis Childs Chevrolet, and then became the bookkeeper for Sunflower Electric from 1960 to 1985. She was attending Westside Baptist Church.
On Feb. 9, 1985, Virginia married Dale D. Kern in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 3, 2015. Other survivors include: twin sister, Verna Lantz of Hutchinson; nieces, Loretta Fosnight and husband Richard of Hutchinson, Linda Woodside of Clearwater; stepson, Gary Kern and wife Carolyn of Topeka; stepdaughter, Connie Wilcox and husband Jeff of Lubbock, Texas; great-niece, Suzanne Johnson and husband Donny of Clearwater; great-nephews, Rich Fosnight of Moore, Okla., Stephen Fosnight and wife Nadine of Moore, Okla., Jonny Fosnight of Wichita; step-grandsons, Gregg Kern of Olathe, Brian Wilcox and wife Chiarra of Lubbock, Texas; 10 great-great-nieces and nephews; and a step-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Grace Bible Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Rick Goertzen presiding. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
