Virginia M. Yates' Obituary
WICHITA - Virginia May Yates, 83, died July 8, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
She was born March 10, 1924, in Abbyville, the daughter of John Harold "Bab" and Iva Rea Stevens Ginn. She graduated from Abbyville High School in 1942. A resident of Wichita, formerly of Abbyville, she was a homemaker.
On May 1, 1945, she married James William Yates at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. He survives.
Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Nathan and Nonda Yates, St. Louis, Barbara and Kevin Van Velzor, Wichita, and Steven and Sheila Yates, Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Yates.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Robert Harris presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.
