Viva Jean Steierl, 87, of Hutchinson, died February 10, 2021, at her home. She was born February 10, 1934, in Hutchinson, to Anthony and Viva (Howard) Urban.

Viva graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952. She had many different jobs over the years, including First National Bank and her own cleaning service. Viva had many hobbies including square dancing, reading, card games, and crafts. She volunteered at Delos V. Smith Senior Center, where she enjoyed organizing and helping with the games. Viva attended Grace Episcopal Church.

On November 22, 1952, she married John Steierl in Hutchinson. They shared 62 years together before he passed away on May 29, 2015.

Viva is survived by: son, Larry Steierl (Susan), McPherson; daughter, Susan Starlin, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Benjamin Starlin (Brandi), Hutchinson, Ashley Manges (James), Hutchinson, Zachary Starlin, Hutchinson; and ten siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John Steierl.

There will be no services at this time. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Public Library, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
