Obituary

Vivian F. Piteri, 98, died June 3, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 3, 1911, in Minneapolis, Kan., the daughter of Jesse N. and Grace Gasaway Felt. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1928 and attended Hutchinson Junior College, graduating from Emporia State Teachers College.

She was a librarian at Winfield High School and then became a civilian librarian with the United States Army from 1942 to 1955 serving in the United States, Europe and Japan.

Upon returning to Hutchinson she then worked as the librarian for Hutchinson High School and Plaza Jr. High School.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Altrusa International. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women.

On Sept. 1, 1949, she married James R. Piteri in Anchorage, Alaska. He died July 19, 2006.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Van and Robert Felt.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Amy Dame presiding. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

Casket will be closed. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers in care of the mortuary.
