Obituary

Vivian Marie Weigel, 88, died Nov. 9, 2014, in Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 30, 1926, to Julius and Gladys (Schmidt) Mueller in Wright. She attended St. Teresa's Catholic High School and graduated in 1945.
She was a parish member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, owner and operator of a restaurant in Wright and Hutchinson, but she loved to sew for family, dance, play bridge and was an avid player of mahjong board games.

On June 19, 1946, Vivian married Gerard "Jerry" Weigel at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. He died Oct. 13, 1991. Survivors include: children, Carla Bickel of Hutchinson, Craig Weigel and wife Julie of Manhattan, Colin Weigel and wife Karen of Leawood, and Colette Mattison and husband Brett of Hutchinson; six grandchildren, Jason Weigel and wife Angi, Sarah Delp and husband Joel, Ryan Weigel, Christopher Mattison and wife Tyleigh, Georgia Weigel and Lawrence Weigel; seven great-grandchildren, Benjamin Weigel, Katherine Weigel, Amaleigh Mattison, Joleigh Mattison, Elijah Delp, Emmett Delp and Cecilia Delp; brothers, Jerry Mueller of Hutchinson, Harold Mueller of Leawood, Tom Mueller of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ken Mueller of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters, Jeanie Jones of Centralia, Wash., Mary Ellen Bishop of Hutchinson, Barbara Ann Warriner of Shawnee, and Janie Riggs of Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ray Bickel; brother, Duane Mueller; and sister, Luella "Dickie" Fitzgerald.

Cremation has taken place. Parish rosary will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m., all at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Joseph A. Eckberg and Father Nicholas Voelker presiding. Burial will be in Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church or Trinity Catholic High School, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
