SYLVIA - Wallace O. "Wally" Yust, 93, died Saturday, March 3, 2012. He was born in Sylvia, Oct. 3, 1918, the son of Edward and Louise Springer Yust.

He was a 1936 graduate of Sylvia High School and attended Southwestern College, Winfield. Wally was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sylvia, Sylvia Lions Club, Hayes Farmers Union, Reno County Cattleman Association, the American Simmental Association, Sylvia EUB, an active member of the National Farmers Organization and a 4-H leader for Hayes 4-H Club. Wally farmed all of his life.

On Oct. 27, 1940, he married Kathryn M. Shuster in Caldwell. She died Jan. 27, 2004. He is survived by their children and spouses: Steven and Patti, Sylvia, Ann and David Bauer, Kearney, Nebraska, Philip and Sally, St. Joseph, Missouri, David and Sharon, Del Norte, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Emery, Harold and Venard; two sisters, Crysabelle Purdy and Evelyn Bolick.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Sylvia United Methodist Church, with Pastor Joyce E. Beam officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church in care of the mortuary.
