Obituary

Wanda Marie "Butch" Simon, 75, died July 1, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born on May 9, 1940, in Brainerd, Kan., to Ralph and Helen (Shipley) Hayes.

She married Donald Eugene Simon on June 1, 1957, in Mulvane. He died July 15, 2010.

In 2006, Wanda retired after many years as a payroll clerk for Kroger Accounting Services. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include: son, Michael Simon (Jodi) of Herkimer, NY; daughters, Laurie White (Phillip) of Geneseo, Dawn Stauffer (fiancé, Jarrett Owens) of Ottawa, Leslie Wilmore (Sam) of Whitewater; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Hayes) Moore (Jim) of Mulvane; brothers-in-law, Larry Simon (LeeAnn) of Galveston, Texas and Fred Simon (Patty) of Mulvane; and a sister-in-law, Mary Zavala of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Christian Simon; great-grandson, Mason Holm; brother, Forest Hayes; and a sister, Wilma McElhiney.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Mulvane Cemetery, Mulvane. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. with the family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
