NICKERSON – Wanda Louise Fountain, 87, died April 13, 2015. She was born Oct. 24, 1927, at Langdon, the daughter of Jay Fay and Rose Louise (Compton) Holmes.

he was a 1945 graduate of Langdon High School and a 1967 graduate of Sterling College. Wanda was a member of Nickerson United Methodist Church and an elementary school teacher. She started teaching at Langdon in a one-room schoolhouse and then at Nickerson Grade School, teaching 2nd grade for 23 years, retiring in 1991.
On May 26, 1948, she married James Harold Fountain at her parents' home in Langdon. He survives. Other survivors include: their children, Sheryl (Bruce) Hoyle of Nickerson, Robin Allen of Shawnee, James Gregg of Big Lake, Alaska, Kevin (Patti Wyland) of Nickerson; a sister, Shirley Holmes of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Jim (Kelley) McVey, Larry McVey, Kendra (Shane) Hughes; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeffery Allen; grandson, John Allen; brothers, Norman and William Holmes; and a sister, Genevieve Plush.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Melissa Naylor presiding. Burial will be in Lerado Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
