Wanda Lee Nichols, 89, of Hutchinson, died June 19, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Hutchinson, daughter of Lee Charles and Hattie Ruth (Hoag) Field.
Wanda graduated from Buhler High School in 1944. Prior to having children, Wanda worked for the state highway commission as a secretary, was a housewife and a cook for Lakeview Elementary School.
On March 3, 1945, Wanda married Jessie Leon "Nick" Nichols in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 28, 2013. Survivors include: sons, Larry Nichols of Hutchinson, Gary Nichols and wife Kathy of Hutchinson; grandsons, Justin Nichols of Blue Springs, Mo., and Troy Nichols of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers, Aaron, Orville, Lyle, Ralph Field; sisters, Pauline Horton, and Mildred Dirksen.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Steve Hodgson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
