Warren Ray
Whithorn
February 17, 1939 – April 18, 2018
Warren Ray Whithorn, 79, of Hutchinson, passed away on April 18, 2018. He was born on February 17, 1939, in Nevada, Missouri, to Virgil and Almeda Whithorn.
Warren attended Hutchinson High School and Sidney's Hairdressing College and was a licensed cosmetologist.
For a short period of time, he worked as a CNA for elders suffering from Alzheimier's and dementia. He also worked at Dillons in the advertising department.
In November 1985, he married the love of his life, Hazel Whithorn. She passed away on April 5, 1999.
Warren's joy in life was music. He enjoyed all kinds of music but his favorite was gospel. Warren could play the piano, organ, and the guitar. He had a very beautiful singing voice as well.
Warren did lots of volunteer work from delivering Meals On Wheels to styling ladies hair in the nursing homes. He had a very big heart!
Warren loved to play bingo and enjoyed receiving lottery tickets on every holiday. His favorite was the scratch- offs.
Warren was preceded in death by: his parents, Virgil and Almeda; three brothers, Dale, Howard, and Lewis Whithorn; and four sisters, Alice Lightner, Dorothy Mackey, Velma Miller, and Evelyn Hendershot; and his loving wife, Hazel Whithorn.
He is survived by his brother, Lee Whithorn (Virginia), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, at Wesley Towers Evans Chapel, 3709 Asbury Drive, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Phipps presiding.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Windom Cemetery Association in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
