Wayne Leroy Gee, 80, died Jan. 9, 2017, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. He was born July 11, 1936, in Hays, to Alva L. and Ruth G. (Marsteller) Gee.
Wayne graduated from Winona High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army National Guard from 1954 to 1962. Wayne worked as an electrician for Hedlund Electric, Electric Incorporated, and Dyson Electric before opening his own business, "The Electric Shoppe." He was a member of the IBEW and Bethany Church of the Nazarene.
He married Iva May Strickland Nov. 13, 1954, in Raton, New Mexico. She died Jan. 21, 2015. Wayne is survived by: sons, Randy Gee and wife Kathie, Rick Gee and wife Ann, all of Hutchinson, Steve Gee and wife Terri, Topeka; daughters, Cheryl Peterman and husband David, Yukon, Okla., Melissa Holzer and husband Cory, Runaway Bay, Texas; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Erma Gee of Oakley and Merry Palmer of Minnesota; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Bethany Church of the Nazarene, 408 N. Kent Rd., Hutchinson, with Pastor Jay Bessmer officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Army National Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
