Wayne Snell, 92, died April 23, 2012, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Feb. 16, 1920, in St. John, Kan., the son of Frank Asbury and Flora Evangeline (Cox) Snell.

He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1938 and Dodge City JUCO in 1940. Wayne was a World War II Army veteran, serving from 1945-46. He worked for Boeing Engineering Dept. for three and a half years before serving in the Army. He worked for Boeing Engineering for six months after being discharged from the Army and then went back to the farm from 1947 to 1980, and lived there until retiring in Hutchinson in 1998. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Johnson, Kan., and an affiliated member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. and the N.R.A.

On Aug. 2, 1941, he married Marjorie Eileen Vance in Dodge City. She died March 10, 2011.

Survivors include: three children, David Snell and wife Virginia of Johnson, Kan., Carol Anne Huntsman and husband Fred of Marysville, Kan., Bob Snell of Lindsborg, Kan. and his wife, Linda of Brownwood, Texas; sister, Florene James of Clay Center, Kan.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kan.
