Wilbur "Wilks" Graber, 89, died Sept. 14, 2015, at his home in South Hutchinson. He was born Feb. 28, 1926, in rural Reno County, to Henry P. and Elizabeth S. Graber.
Wilbur graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1944 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Dairy Queen on Main St. for 45 years. Wilbur was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, traveling with his wife and camping. He was a member of First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson.
On Dec. 2, 1951, he married Veradine M. Krehbiel in Pretty Prairie. She survives. Other survivors include: daughter, Carla Schierholt of Kenny Lake, Alaska; son, Scott Graber of Manhattan; grandson, Max Graber of Hutchinson; granddaughters, Abbie Schierholt of Anchorage, Alaska, Madi Graber of Hutchinson; brother, Leroy Graber of Inman; and sister, Virginia Murray of South Hutchinson. Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard, Willard, Marvin and Robert Graber.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Road, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tonya Ramer Wenger officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Fireside Room at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson.
