Obituary

Will Lucas 'Bill' Green Jr., 79, died March 19, 2019, at his home. He was born August 25, 1939, in Osceola, Missouri, the son of Will L. Sr. and Vivien L. (Simpson) Green. Bill graduated from Burdett High School, where he was a star athlete. He attended Hutchinson Community College on a football scholarship and majored in Liberal Arts. Bill joined the United States Navy in 1958, where he served in the U.S. Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Seabees. He graduated from Salt City Business College in 1962 and had his own car dealership, Green's Classic Auto, Nickerson. Bill was a member of India Temple Shrine, Oklahoma City, OK, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and past-commander of Bob Campbell V.F.W. Post #1361.

On June 4, 1961, he married Cecilia 'Joan' Struthers in Larned and they had four children together. They later divorced. On August 26, 1980, Bill married Linda Kay Seckman. She died in 2016.

Also preceding him in death are: daughter, Darla Griffin; grandson, Russell Griffin; father, Will Green; mother, Vivien Borecky; stepfather, Roy Borecky; brothers, Eddy and Ronnie Borecky; and first wife, Joan Green.

Bill is survived by: sons, Reggie Green (Rae) and Darren Green (April), all of Nickerson; daughter, Denise Green (Keith McCubbin), Hutchinson; son-in-law, David Griffin (Rebecca), Nickerson; sister, Dolores Yarborough, Hutchinson; companion, Paula Catlin, Burdett; five grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
