Willard Calvin 'Willie' Rayl, 94, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away peacefully in Venice, FL, on June 22, 2020.  He was born December 4, 1925, in Hutchinson, KS, to Thomas J. and Clara Angeline (Page) Rayl, Jr.  Willie was raised on the family farm located on Rayl's Hill on west 4th Street.  He led a full and colorful life.

Willie spent most of his life in Hutchinson, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1943, and then joining the United States Army in 1944.  After serving his military obligation, Willie returned to Hutchinson and started his highly successful fifty-year business career as an entrepreneur.

He owned and operated seven full-service Apco gas stations, in Hutchinson. Willie was one of the leading developers of Hutchinson's 30th Street commercial corridor, including Rayl's Retail Liquor, Walgreens, Bloskey Northgate Shopping Center, Taco Hut, Pizza Hut, Birdcage Nightclub, and Rayl's Full Service Car Wash.

He will be forever remembered by his family:  sons, Jim and Jeff Rayl; grandchildren, Jason, Joey, Michael, Christopher, Thomas, and Phillip; and great-grandchildren, Bradley, Wesley, and Isabella.

Willie was preceded in death by:  his parents, Thomas J. Rayl, Jr. and Clara Angeline (Page) Rayl; twelve older brothers; and one sister.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
