William Clark "Bill" Anderson, 89, died April 23, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 26, 1917, in Protection, the son of William and Fannie Clark Anderson. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he graduated from Protection High School and Friends University, Wichita. He completed specialized training at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company from 1948 until his retirement in 1973.
He was a Lieutenant (Senior Grade) in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1943 to 1946.
He belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
On April 27, 1940, he married Aileen Kissick in Mount Hope. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jeff and his wife, Rogene Anderson, Lawrence; three daughters, Jan Dwyer and husband, Ed, Hutchinson, Joan Strano and husband, Dick, Hutchinson, and Jill Foss and husband, Doug, Hutchinson. He was fondly known as "Bongo" to his nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Corey Stenholm, in 1980; a sister, Ruth Bonham; three half brothers, Roy, Ralph and Floyd Anderson; and a half sister, Mattie Alley.
Although Bill will be missed by many, his legacy will live on through the many lives he touched at a meaningful level.
Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service in the church parlor. His body will be cremated. Private family graveside service will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church or Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the mortuary.
