Obituary

William E. "Bill" Doxon, 79, of Hutchinson, died March 3, 2011, at his home. He was born Nov. 20, 1931, at his family home near Lovewell, Kan., to Everette E. and Golda M. Briles Doxon.

He was a graduate of Formoso, Kan., High School, attended Fort Hays State and graduated from Pittsburg State University. He retired in 1994 from Cessna/Eaton Hydraulics division after 30 years of service. After retiring, Bill worked for Don Clark Servicing Company as an equipment repairman. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ. He was the scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #313 for several years. Bill took the boys camping monthly no matter what the weather conditions. He also served as a scoutmaster trainer, where he trained Scout leaders throughout the state of Kansas.

He married Shelia Smith June 29, 1953. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Gregory and his wife Elizabeth "Libby" of Hutchinson; daughters, Kimberly Grossardt and her husband Wayne of Wichita and Carrie Barker and her husband Brent of Hutchinson; and three grandchildren, Danielle Fesler, Dylan Fesler and Christopher Grossardt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; sister, Colleen Hunt; nephew, Timothy; and a niece, Patti Koehn.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation will take place. Family will receive friends at the church following the service.
