Obituary

William Keith Dyson, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011.

He was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Hutchinson, the son of Guy and Pearl Butcher Dyson.

He was a 1939 graduate of Buhler High School, an Army veteran during World War II, had worked at Central Electric and had been a dairy farmer. Bill had been a volunteer for RSVP, Dillon Nature Center, Meals on Wheels, Underground Salt Museum, was superintendent at the 4-H Encampment Building at the Kansas State Fair, a member of the National Campers and Hikers Assoc. and Union Valley Bible Church.

On June 9, 1942, he married Mildred F. Martens in Buhler. She died Jan. 5, 2004. He then married Edna Johnson Becker. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons and their spouses, Ron and Joyce, Goddard, Charles and Marcia, Wichita; step-daughter, Judy and Charles Lay, Champaign, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Michelle and Don Harms, Brent and Debra Dyson, Chad and Chris Dyson, Delena and Kelly Reed, Heather and Ralph Manganiello, Dustin Dyson, Lisa and Clint Stoppel, Amy and Matt Thompson, Nina and Eric Jerke; three step-grandchildren, Heather and Robert Gudge, Amy and Darko Stefanovic, Wade and Annette Lay; seven great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren and a step-great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mike.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial will be in Buhler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday, with family present at 1 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church, in care of the mortuary.
