William J. 'Bill' Garden, 54, of Hutchinson, died June 27, 2012, at his home.
Bill was born Oct. 2, 1957, in Newport News, Virginia, the son of Robert E., III and Clara M. McFarland Garden.
He moved with his family to Kansas at a young age and graduated from Lyons High School in 1975. He graduated from Hutchinson Community College, and later pursued a degree in Bio-Medical Instrumentation and was a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. Bill was the Clinical Engineering Supervisor, which directed the operation of medical instrumentation at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was an Ahearn Fund Donor at Kansas State University, and a member of the Men's Auxiliary of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361.
Bill cherished his family, many friendships, and enjoyed his long-time role as fantasy football commissioner.
Bill married Ellen Marie Simoni on Oct. 1, 1983, in Norwood, Mass. She survives. Others survivors include: a son, Jason Garden, Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Megan Garden, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Brent Garden, Kansas City, Kan., sister, Nancy Marteney and husband Gary, Lyons; a nephew, Kevin Marteney; and a niece, Brandi Hughes.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kevin Guffey presiding.
