Obituary

William H. "Bill" Meyer II, 79, died April 2, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 6, 1934, in New York City, NY, to William H. and Olive M. Friend Meyer.

Bill married Adeline "Addie" Lamberth in Hutchinson, on Feb. 27, 1979. She died May 26, 2001. He was in the United States Navy serving in the Korean Conflict. He worked for the City of Hutchinson Fire Department for 34 years, retiring as a Drill Captain in 1985. After retirement, Bill worked for the City Public Works Department as an assistant superintendent for flood control. He retired for a final time in 1996. Survivors include: daughters, Kelly Seibel (Keith) of Kingman, Kris Baldwin (Bob Hauck) of Hutchinson; son, Arthur "Butch" Meyer (Lorraine) of Topeka; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby L'Heureux (Skip) and brother, Robert "Bobby" Meyer (Janet), all of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William H. Meyer III; stepson, Rick Lamberth; stepdaughter, Patti Lamberth; sister, Beatrice McNamara; and a brother-in-law, Donald McNamara.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Worthington presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
