William H. "Red" Hipp, 86, died Dec. 12, 2006 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born March 8, 1920, in Randolph, Miss., the son of Vernon D. and Ottley Maude Bishop Hipp. He graduated from Randolph High School. A resident of Hutchisnon since 1956, he was an aircraft mechanic for Wells Aircaft for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving at Pearl Harbor and later served in the U.S. Coast Guard for a total of 15 years.
On December 7, 1977 he married Velma Ewing in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Norman, Wichita, Edwin and David Ewing, both of Hutchinson; three daughters, Evelyn Moos, Ellinwood, Becky Moyer, Omaha, Neb. and Joyce Hardesty, Salisbury, Md.; a sister, Elizabeth Lawrence, Memphis, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Partridge Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Soule presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
