Obituary

William C. "Bill" Miller, 75, died Jan. 7, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born May 29, 1930, in Reno County, the son of Chris and Fannie Miller Miller. A lifetime Reno County resident, he worked for Farmland Steel Products, Hutchinson, for 20 years, retiring in 1986, and was a driver for Golden Express for 14 years.

He belonged to Church of the Holy Cross.

In June 1949, he married Ava Jane McAlister. On May 11, 1984, he married Lynne J. Thompson Van Hoff. She survives.

Other survivors include: his children, Darrell and wife, Linda, Ruston, La., Douglas and wife, Heather, Newkirk, Okla., Beth Miller, Wichita, David, Ottawa, Ill., Julie Welch and husband, Scott, San Antonio, and W. Dean and wife, Joan, Wichita; two stepsons, Larry Van Hoff Jr. and Brad Van Hoff, both of Wichita; a brother, Christy, Hutchinson; four sisters, Lizzie Troyer, Topeka, Indiana Katie Crow, Hutchinson, Elizabeth Yoder, Wellman, Iowa, and Anna Miller, Kolona, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; four brothers, Abe Kaufman, Harley H., Harvey C. and Harley P. Miller; and a sister, Katherine Gingerich.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
